Stanley

Meet Stanley the lamb who lives at Uncle M and Aunt Coca's house. We were invited over to meet him when he was just a week old and he is sooo cute, and tiny. He is being bottle fed by Aunt Coca as his mother didn't take him.
He and bubby got along well being close to the same size.
They were equally curious about the other.
Bubby was even ready to try out Stanley's bottle.
Let's play!
All the kids enjoyed him.

But Aunt Coca was where he would go when it got too exciting or scary.
When he gets his bottle his little tail wiggles all over like a happy puppy. :)

 Phone games!

Mr. Tech is always good at those.

I didn't get pictures of the fun trip to the barn were the kids enjoyed feeding and greeting the cows, and sheep and swinging from the rafters and "mountain climbing" on the hay bales! Farm life is so much fun when someone else is doing all the work! :)
Thank you for sharing Stanley and for the  fun evening!

Winter days!

We got a week of 20 degree and lower temperatures around here which added a bit of variety to life. Almost every morning started off with this awesome sunrise over Mt. Hood; it goes great with a hot cup of coffee!  This is from the kitchen window, my inspiration for the day!

The temperatures were soo cold most the week that we spent the days indoors trying to keep warm. But on the last day of the cold snap we got this dusting of snow to go along with the ice scapes the boys had been enjoying.

Jul's got the first run down the snowy slide.

She also made sure the chickens got their exercise.

 Phi scrounged around,

and found enough snow to make a small snowman!

And it was cold enough that even tho' the grass was not covered we were able to sled down the back hill!

 Awaiting our turn...

Yay! we made it to the bottom!

We did afternoon school this day, as the snow melted outdoors and we quit worrying about keeping the faucets dripping and the windows covered and the heaters on..

Bubby, our little chocolate faced monkey. He's very proud of the fact that he can stand up himself... as long as he hangs on to something!
And a serenade by the Three Musketeers to end the day.

Camping Memories from September...

It was one of the best camp trips yet as far as weather goes, mildly chilly, but just enough that the fire was enjoyable. It was an impromtu, hey the weathers awesome lets go sort of camp trip. Bugs still says it was his idea, as, for the entire summer he would look out the window first thing most mornings, rain or shine, and declare, " it looks like a good day to go camping"! :) We stayed the first night, just our family, and having gotten off a bit late, we arrived in time to set up, and get dinner, in the dark. :) We were just thankful to have a spot, not having reserved ahead of time, we arrived at 7:00 at night without having had dinner to a sign at the entrance saying "campground full" !!! Not having any other options at that time of night we proceeded to the check in, as the station was closing, and asked what the options were. A very kind ranger arranged for one spot they had left for that night and once we had that one, reserved one more for the following night! We were thankful!

 Waiting for dinner.
Bubby sitting on a camp bin lid so he won't eat rocks and what have you while we are setting up and getting dinner. (he wasn't crawling yet)
We fell asleep that first night under a full moon and stars, as we didn't need the tent fly on the top.
Bubby, first morning of his first camp trip.
I found these mini marshmellows at Target just before the trip and they were a fun addition to the morning hot chocolate!
When in doubt add more...
Bugs  and his chocolate.
We only had 3 mugs so we shared, and waited for Gramma Jo, Aunt Ruth and Si to arrive!
YAY! they made it!
After breakfast we had to pick up camp and move to the new spot. Aunt Ruth came to the rescue and walked the kids around and took them to the play ground while we packed up.
The new spot backed to a pine forest and then the dunes that led to the beach. It was a perfect spot for the kids to play and both "neighbors" were RVers so we didn't worry about disturbing them.
Setting up camp. :)

That afternoon the kids all took a good nap from all the fresh air and exercise.

Well all were resting, (Gramma and A. Ruth were in camp) I snuck away to explore the dunes. I love the grassy dunes and soft sand on that part of the coast.
Once they all woke up we went back out and enjoyed them until dinner time.
Sand skiing!

The secret trail up the dunes through the beach grass! :)
Fire roasted hot dogs for dinner, one of the best parts of camping!

Si enjoying the out of doors

Good morning Si!
:)
Our fine breakfast chefs.
Some 'monkeying' around while we packed up camp again.
 A bit of school.
Bugs won the prize for the most ouchies. (he has 4 band aids in this picture)
After packing up and lunch to go headed north and stopped at Fort Clatsop for some history.

We have a picture of Si's daddy in this exact spot at about the age of 2. :)
Wild hooligans in the fort.
Gramma getting Roo a bandaid.
It was a great stop for seeing how things were done in the early days of American history. They have how to clips on candle making, loading a long rifle, making bullets, and starting a fire with a flint stone that were perfect for the boys! Lots of fun memories in two short days!
