Uncle Hans and Aunt Sus came to town for 2 weeks at the end of August and we tried to enjoy all the moments we could with them. Some of those moments included a three night stay in a beach house in Oceanside, OR. It went by too fast of course but we do have pictures to show for it, quite a few in fact, so there will probably be a least two different posts so as not to be too long.
Our beautiful view the first morning:
Phi saved up his quarters and nickles and a few dollars here and there to buy a kite. We made a special trip into town the first morning we were there and he found this kite at the sporting goods store.
BeetleBug's temporary shade.
It was a beautiful day but we only spent a bit of it on the beach and then headed back the to house to rest up and wait for the arrival of every one else!
Toes in the sand.
Great Grandpa Allen and Grandma Dee arrived bringing Hans and Sus with them and the fun began. For the kids that included lots of books being read to them.
After dinner we took a walk thru the neighborhood along the bluff to catch the lovely sunset.
About 10:00 the cousins arrived, with Grandpa Dave and Grandma Jo close behind.
Aunt Sus read the bed time story and then some. :)
And Grandma Jo picked up were Sus left off the next morning.
AJ, Ruth and Silas arrived in time for the blueberry pancake and egg breakfast. And after a leisurely morning we headed toward the beach. But while we were getting ready we looked off the deck to see all the cousins gathered round the fire pit ready for the fun to begin!
The beach at last.
We met up with more extended family there and enjoyed a fun day that was not too warm tho' a tad windy.
As the tide headed out in the evening we found lots of mini fish and crabs in the tide pools. This one was the "big guy" at about 3 inches.
The only group shot I have aannd it's from the back. :}
Then we headed in for bathes and a ginormous and delicious dinner, and the promised fire and smores.
Made even more special by the fact that Uncle Hans and Aunt Sus treated us to a hymn sing with guitar accompaniment!
Enjoy!
So this was the first two days and we'll try and get the next one up in short order.
So many fun photos and memories! I'll have to borrow a few for our yearly photo book since I forgot my camera that trip. :( Will be looking forward to seeing the rest!
