The Chore Game

About a month ago I was inspired by this post of IOI's  , it was so fun to read through that I decided to share what's working for us right now. Much simpler but the kids are enjoying it and Aaron named it "the Chore Game". :) Of course I still have to oversee that things get done but, things ARE getting done and I'm not doing allll of it so that is a good thing. So very simple really, I like drawing things so I cut out some small squares of paper and drew a picture of each chore to be done like so:

Then Mr. Tech 'laminated" them with packing tape and we put them all in a brown bag that hangs on the refrigerator.   Each kid has their certain color of clipper,
And each morning after breakfast they take turns picking chores until the bag is empty. Then they clip them up on the fridge until they get them finished. That way I also know whom is responsible for which jobs. And if some one fails to do so and loses a chore card they are stuck with that chore till we find it.

The boys had been asking me to make a chore card that said "chase the chickens" for fun . Then one morning this card appeared in the chore bag much to their amusement via Phi's great drawing skills. :)
Here is Bubby's favorite chore!!! Unloading in particular whether it's clean or dirty. :)
And here is Marcus en-route to outer space thanks to these youtube videos of Astronaut Chris Hadfield.  We had one of our carseats out of the van and they began preparing each other for space flights in the kitchen. :)
Costco shopping is a highlight in their lives. When we return home and unload all the boxes that come with that, they then brake out my butter knives and go to town on the boxes.
Making boats and cars and trains,
Until they've reduced the boxes to small pieces of cardboard that end up scattered through out the house. But this amuses them for hours at a time often.
Here is the mechanics shop, the current project is a fire truck. Which is up on the jack after being towed in by a tractor.
And we'll end it with two of Bubby our sweet little cuddle bug, enjoying some early morning time with Daddy. I love Bubby's little crossed ankles here. :)
Can you find something in this picture that does not belong? :)
He is starting to get into everything, cupboards, bathroom, (if the door left open) garbages, and everything goes in his mouth. But he is the sweetest little snuggle bug and so much fun. He especially loves his sister Juli and biggest brother Phi. He and Juli sit and play and giggle together and with big brother he just likes to hang out on the couch some days. So fun to see them grow together. And that's about it for now we hope to be back again soon. :)  ~ SJo
