Monday is craft day in these parts and we saw this lovely video online the other day and so we thought we would try some chocolate bowls. It looked easy enough, so we grabbed a pack of water balloons that were in the cupboard and proceeded.
Water balloons
We didn't have a balloon pump so a bike pump had to do..
It worked splendidly,
and we managed to come up with one bowlful of balloons.
We broke out the chocolate, melted it in the microwave and proceeded.
I didn't get the dipping part, but all was going well as I lowered the chocolate dipped balloon to the cookie sheet covered neatly in waxed paper. The kids were all gathered around to watch this process, when suddenly POW! And we were all neatly covered in chocolate. And not only we but the stove, the counter, the wall, the cupboards...
It was a blast... in more ways than one!
Jul's got a face full, my shirt was covered, and one of the boys was heard to say, "Eww, I think I got some in my hair"!
We tried several times more, with similar results... I know a bit
foolish but we were set on some chocolate bowls. The kids all retreated to
the couch for once, exploding chocolate balloons were just a bit too
much for them.
And finally we were rewarded.
The survivors!!!
Sweet success!!
We'll just have to strain the balloon chunks out between our teeth. :D
It's all good, my kitchen needed a good cleaning anyway.
Tip: If you try this let your chocolate cool for about 10 minutes or for some fun, just suit up first! :)
Happy Monday! :)
